Why blog? Why now?

Why blog? I recently read that blogging is outdated. I have no idea if it's true! BUT I do know journaling has always been so therapeutic for me both emotionally and spiritually.

Why now? About one month before COVID-19 hit the USA and everyone was put on mandatory quarantine, I had felt a nudging from the Lord to embrace the social media communication GIANT! I have always hated being personal to people I don't know. And the overwhelming majority of your social media "friends" are acquaintances at best and strangers for the most part (I mean 20 years post high school graduation, I can not claim to know my classmates if they have changed even a fraction as much as I have). So initially I sought out help for our church FB page...God had perfect timing on that of course with all the crazy that came crashing in quickly! However, this past weekend, I felt like the Lord was wanting me to stop "hiding behind" the church page and be more PERSONAL on my personal FB. And as all ideas to start a blog go, one thing led to another and I thought, "if ever there were a good time to start a blog, now would be it!" And here we are!

I'm not going to spend much time here telling you who Brena is. If anything here catches your attention, hopefully you'll piece by piece get to know me and all the shenanigans of Cherry Rd. So here's the basic 4-1-1... Kevin and I have been married for 11 years and have 2 rowdy boys that make life on Cherry so much fun! Brody is 9 and Eli is 6. We renovated (inside only so far) and moved into a tiny house on Cherry Rd almost three years ago. We have 3 dogs...Biscuit the Standard Poodle and Butter & Honey the Golden Retriever girls! We recently got 24 chicks and started a big ole garden. We have started all this right as we begin the exterior renovation of our tiny house. So, hello chaos BUT I'm not sure we would have it any other way!

Cherry Rd...what does that have to do with all this madness?!? My mom grew up on the family ranch at the end of Cherry Road. Clarksville and more specifically, Cherry Road has always been my home away from home until God made it possible to be my home! I pray daily that my kids will one day see the gift they were given to be raised in the middle of nowhere, right down the road from the best grandparents alive! Hand on, it's always a bumpy ride when you off road on Cherry!
